National Cancer Control Strategy 2013 – 2022

The ORCI in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare developed National Cancer Control Strategy (NCCS). The National Cancer Control Strategy (NCCS) is a roadmap toward the development and implementation of a comprehensive and coordinated national response to cancer in Tanzania.

Tanzania was chosen by IAEA/PACT as a pilot model demonstration site (PMDS) in Africa, and this strategy and action plan is a step toward making Tanzania a model for other African countries to emulate.

The aim of the NCCS is to strengthen and accelerate the translation of cancer control knowledge into public health action. The focus is placed on ensuring integration of cancer control into existing healthcare delivery system in order to reduce incidence of cancer cases and improve quality of life of patients and their families.
